The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, which licenses certified home health aides and provides a wide array of consumer protection programs, has announced a new program for individuals receiving home health care services. The Division will provide a micro-surveillance camera for thirty days at no cost to the consumer. The free service is not available to residents of health care facilities (such as nursing homes) as it is designed to protect consumers of home health services, whether privately paid or through the MLTSS Medicaid program.
The Star Ledger reported on December 23rd that the Division has seen a sharp uptick in the number of complaints it has received from consumers which allege abuse and neglect of elderly & disabled patients by their caregivers.
