The following Star Ledger Article detailed a homeless veteran advocacy event that is occurring this Friday and Saturday in Morristown, New Jersey. The event, called “Operation Stand Down Morristown”, will take place between 8 AM and 2 PM this Friday and Saturday, January 18th and 19th, at the Morristown Armory. Free food, clothing, and medical services will be provided to homeless and needy veterans.
In addition, the linked Huffington Post Article details improvements and advances at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that will hopefully both reduce the VA disability compensation claim backlog and provide improved medical care to injured and disabled veterans. Much of the VA’s efforts to reduce the backlog are focused on improving the VA’s informational technology (IT) infrastructure and transitioning the claims adjudication to a fully electronic system.
