I previously blogging about the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA) website for researching prior BVA decisions being active once again. For review, the BVA search engine was inoperable for a good portion of 2012.
On the heels of that good news, I can happily report that the BVA’s website now has a new and improved search engine which permits a veteran to better tailor the search results based upon key words. Veterans can search prior decisions by the BVA at Link to BVA Decisions.
The link above allows a veteran to search prior BVA decisions on a particular topic (for example, “accrued benefits”) and see how the BVA interpreted the existing statute and regulation at the time of the decision to the facts of that veteran’s case. This can be an invaluable resource for a veteran in advancing their claim.
* As a practice tip, I have found that many of the decisions are not formatted properly for viewing. If you right click your mouse, “Select All”, “Copy”, and then “Paste” into your word processor, you will be able to view the entire decision.*
