BIOGRAPHY
A native of Linden, NJ, and a graduate of Linden High School, Stan obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Marietta College in OH, followed by a Bachelor of Laws/Juris Doctor degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, VA. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of NJ and Federal Courts in 1965, and several months later opened the law office of Kiernan & Fink on Raritan Road in Clark, NJ, as a founding member and partner of the law firm. That office soon became the first “full-time” law practice in Clark, and eventually evolved into the present firm of FINK ROSNER ERSHOW-LEVENBERG, LLC.
The focus of Stan’s practice was Real Property, Estate Administration (probate), and Land Use (zoning and planning). A highlight of Stan’s career was in 2003, when he was presented with the Professional Lawyer of the Year award by the Union County Bar Association (UCBA) and the NJ Commission for Professionalism in the Law. To be so chosen by his peers shows the respect and high esteem in which he is held by them.
In the July 2012 edition of Inside NJ and a Star-Ledger newspaper supplement featuring top rated lawyers, created by Martindale-Hubbel, Stan was listed in the Real Estate Law section.
Stan served as President of the Union County Legal Services Corporation; attorney for the Township of Clark Planning Board; Township of Clark Director of Law (municipal Attorney); attorney for the Rahway Board of Realtors, Eastern Union County Board of Realtors, and Union County Board of Realtors; a founding member and Director of the NJ Association of Real Estate Attorneys; and legal counsel to the NJ Jaycees.
Active participation in professional activities and associations was an important part of Stan’s career in the practice of law. He served on and chaired the NJ Supreme Court appointed Fee Arbitration Committee for Union County in which disputes between lawyers and their clients over fees were arbitrated and decided by other lawyer and lay appointees. Stan has been a member of the UCBA and NJ State Bar Association (NJSBA) since he was admitted to the practice of law, and for many years also a member of the American Bar Association (ABA). He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the UCBA and was elected President in the mid-1980’s; Stan remained active while serving as the Past-President representative on its Board for several years and as Chair and co-Chair of its Real Estate Committee, as well as being a member of its Program and Activities Committee. He also was a founder and has served as co-chair of the UCBA Memorial Committee since its inception more than ten years ago. He is a member of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (IAJLJ), and the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (General Secretary to the AAJLJ Board of Governors).
In the NJSBA Stan was Chair of the Law Office Management Committee, and as a member of the Board of Consultors of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section (now known as the Real Property, Estates, and Trust Law Section), Nominating Committee, Election Committee, Long-Term Planning Committee, and the Unlawful Practice and Professional Responsibility Committee.
In 2016, Stan was awarded the Arthur Horn Award from the Real Property Trust & Estates section of the NJ State Bar Association.
In the early days of his practice Stan was named to the 1980 edition of “Who’s Who in American Jewry” and “Outstanding Young Men of America” (1969 edition). He served as President of the Marietta College Alumni Association, is a Past-President of the Clark Jaycees, a founding Trustee of the Union County Regional Education Foundation, and a former member of the Legal Committee of the NJ Savings League. Stan presently serves as the Chair of the Clark Chamber of Commerce which is a member affiliate of the Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
