Thankfully, as current servicemembers are outprocessing from the military they are now required to go through training regarding VA benefits. However, as most veterans experienced during their time in service, there was little coordination between the service departments and the VA regarding potential benefits.
The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) administers VA programs that provide financial and other forms of assistance to Veterans, their dependents, and survivors. These benefits include: veterans’ compensation for service connected disabilities; veterans’ pension for low-income veterans; survivors’ benefits (Dependency and Indemnity Compensation, Death Pension and Accrued Benefits); rehabilitation and employment assistance; education assistance; home loan guaranties; and life insurance coverage.
